Marlborough Wine Tour
The Marlborough wine regions is made up of three distinct regions, The Wairau Valley, Southern Valleys and the Awatere Valley. These regions have their own soil types and growing conditions. This tour is designed to give you a cross section of wine from the Southern Valley and Wairau Valley. Visiting the small boutique wineries is a primary aim for our tours.
This is a private tour and is only available on request.
This tour will take us to three wineries and have platters for lunch.
Starting at 11am from your accommodation, we will travel to Renwick which is the heart of the Marlborough wine region. Many of Marlborough's small producers are based near this small town.
Our first stop will be at the Pinot Gris specialist of Gibson Bridge. A very small boutique winery owned by Howard and Julia Simmons, who are passionate about Pinot Gris and it qualities.
Clos Henri, with its direct French connections. Only Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are produced by this small producer. The uniqueness of their land allows them to create two distinct wines from the same vine
A wonderful story of biodiversity is at the for front of their wines and it is possible to taste wine from the home region in France. An old church is the setting for the cellar door.
A 2 hour stop here includes a tour of the vineyard followed by picnic lunch and wine tasting.
Leaving Clos Henri we will travel to Te Whare Ra. A walk around the vineyard and tasting in the barrel room can be a highlight.
Note; if Te Whare Ra is unavailable we will visit ether Spy Valley or Framingham's.
